She tried to stand. She had to help him. With each attack he was now stumbling though he had struck down over two dozen dwarves, still, more dwarves came. Alri pushed herself up, only to draw attention of two dwarves who were on the outside of the fighting.

“Grab that one!” Rugag shouted from above. She saw him. He was standing on a ship just behind the Aela Sunrise.

“She may know where the others are.”

The two dwarves moved in on her. She lunged, striking one with her staff. She knew better than to try to use magic but perhaps, she could defend herself long enough for Val’s plan to come to fruition. She blocked a spear thrust, parrying it aside as she pushed in, punching one of the two dwarves in the face. She was about to follow through with her staff when she was swept from beneath and taken down. She screamed, punching and kicking but the dwarves had grabbed her by the legs and arms, forcing her against the deck. A third dwarf stood above her. He stomped her chest.

The crushing force of his boot now pushed into her throat making it almost impossible to breathe. Her arms were bound. Her legs were bound.

Then suddenly, blasts of energy incapacitated the dwarves holding her before the spinning white saber of the captain came flying into view, striking the dwarf standing upon her.

She grabbed at her throat, struggling to breathe as she rolled over. She saw Vals, still on the dwarven vessel, on his knees. With a pile of dead and dying dwarves around him. His hands were outstretched and the golden orb was drawing up around the Aela Sunrise. He was sealing her in.

But the dwarves moved with haste, grabbing her, and then jumping from the Aela Sunrise as the ship was sealed in its golden orb.

They threw her beside Vals

He was on his knees but even as she tried to stand beside him, he placed his hand over her and held his other hand up to the encircling dwarves.

Alri couldn’t do anything. What energy she had was gone. Vals hand was shaking. He had not been struck by any weapons that Alri could see but whatever sickness was upon him, had made it difficult for him to do anything beyond what he did now.

“Valrin of Travaa, Captain of the Aela Sunrise, finally bested.” A gruff voice said.

It was Rugag. The massive dwarf was laughing as he came into view holding a large club.

“But you were always just a dumb boy to me,” Rugag said. “Where’s the rest of the crew? Who is this elf? Did your old friends leave you?”

Vals said nothing.

“Bind them,” Rugag ordered. “The others were just elves. We will find the rest of his real crew but we should leave this place,” the dwarf looked out at the waters around them, “He will have called those damn whales. Signal one vessel to remain for those elves. Kill them all or take them as prisoners. Either way, have them meet us near our typical rendezvous point south of here.
